Thank you for sending the plaque from the NEAPMS. What a nice inscription and I am truly honored to be recognized. As I sit here on a rainy day and work on reports, it is nice to know that managers see the value in some of the work. Please convey my sincere appreciation to the awards committee and to the Society.
What a pleasant surprise it was to receive the NEAPMS Research Award! Thank you to all involved! I sincerely appreciate recognition from this respected organization and especially my colleagues in the Northeast. I will share the award with my past and present students and colleagues that have participated in making my career memorable in the best profession in the world. And I owe NEAPMS a special “thanks” for the role you play in the education of my (and all) students as well as the insights that I gain by attending your meetings.
I wanted to express my gratitude for the thoughtful inscription on the Scientist of the Year award. I was especially humbled by the notion that my research yields user-friendly data for aquatic plant managers. If that is true, it is because managers have generously given their time to take me in the field with them, and to openly discuss their perspectives on issues in aquatic plant management. These interactions play a central role in shaping my research program. I am grateful for the numerous research opportunities that the APMS societies have provided to me, and most especially to my students.
